San Francisco 2019
In the middle of July, at a cool 65 degrees, we find ourselves in what feels like the most culturally rich city, watching one wonderful woman, my mama, live out one of her greatest dreams. San Francisco has led my mom’s wish list for as long as I can recall. She dreamt of seeing and strolling the Golden Gate Bridge more than anything. Since we were 18, she watched her daughter and Mel fumble along and grow into women, all the while fueling us with the most delicious food and advice. So, we don’t believe we can truly explain how beautiful and humbling it is to witness what was only ever talked about in small whispers, during long intimate conversations, which began and ended with “algun dia, is dios quiere” translating to “one day, God willing.”
This post is long, long overdue. Over a year to be exact. But we still find ourselves talking about that wonderful experience. We took mom on a full on girls trip, the way we do, some booze, an overabundance of food, local bookstores, and all the walking.
My mom is my best friend, the strongest, kindest, most patient, person I know. She became a mom pretty young while still a teen also making her the most selfless person as well exchanging those early twenties selfish years for her mom hat. Brenda took the pictures and looking back at them one year later, we can still feel the chilly breeze, the painful hills on our calves, and taste the delicious coffee, we hope you can too!
Talk soon, Bree and Mel.
